Q: Will the VMT115 work on right or left hand doors?

A: Yes, VMT115 will work on both right or left hand doors.

Q: Will VMT115 work on inswing or outswing storm doors?

A: Yes, VMT115 will work on either inswing or outswing storm doors.  

Q: Why does my lever only operates by pulling up?

A: The mortise assembly was installed upside down.

Q: How do you change the orientation of the latch bolt?

A: Remove the 2 screws holding the mortise plate to the mortise body. Then rotate or unscrew the latch bolt so that it faces the opposite direction. The latch bolt might be difficult to turn and may require a bit of force. Reattach the mortise plate and install.

Q: How do you assemble the D-ring to the outside plate?

A: Assemble lever and t-bushing to the outside plate. Place flat washer on backside of plate. Slide the flat side of the D-ring across the flat washer. The curved half of the D-ring will glide into channel above the flat washer. 

Q: How do you change the flat spindle if broken off too much?

A: Start by unscrewing the nut that his holding the spindle on….the tricky part is there is a spring loaded pin that pops-up in everyone of the flower shaped petals as you are unscrewing the nut. Takes some time but can be done

Q: Will the replacement mortise work on french doors?

A: Only when both doors have functioning locks and strikes in a door stile between doors. We do not have instructions to modify one to make it into a dummy handle.
